Hi, I'm Kat.
I cook because it's a useful survival skill that very often makes me happy, and I write about it because food is never really just about food.

So… who exactly are you?
An average home cook who rarely measures anything. If you're here for precision down to the gram, I might stress you out. My “method” is mostly eyeballing, tasting, adjusting, and trusting my instincts: a splash of this, a little more of that, and a lot of “hmm… almost there.” But hey, it works!
Okay, but why a food blog?
Two reasons. First, I genuinely want to make the case for healthy home-cooked meals — and no, that's not code for kale manifestos or obsessive juicing. There will absolutely be pork belly. My version of healthy is a balanced diet, full stop. Second, food is how I hold onto memories. Some of these dishes come with stories: a trip, a person, a moment I didn't want to forget. Sometimes I'm not even the one cooking. Travel eats count too.
What's the actual goal here?
Over the past couple of years, I've been paying more attention to what I eat alongside getting more consistent with exercise. The goal is simple: eat in a way that feels good, without sacrificing the things that taste great. A lot of that means recreating restaurant favorites at home, which, as a bonus, is much easier on the wallet. Win-win.
What should I expect from this space?
The full experience of cooking — the good, the bad, and the occasionally baffling. My dishes aren't always the prettiest, but every one carries a story. Sometimes it's a memory I'm revisiting; sometimes it's a reflection of the kind of day I'm having; and sometimes it's just me rambling with no clear point. And honestly? That's kind of the point.Food, like life, doesn't always need to be neatly explained.
Is this space for me?
If you're okay with cooking by feel, tasting as you go, and embracing a little imperfection, welcome to my little corner of the internet.
🐱 You'll also spot a certain orange cat making appearances around here. That's Dooblu. He's my boss.
